TGC 208 — On Head Coverings
Wednesday Aug 03, 2022
Wednesday Aug 03, 2022
In 1 Corinthians 11, St. Paul instructs women to demonstrate the order of creation by wearing a head covering in the Divine Service. The general rubrics fro TLH indicated that this is a good practice. Yet, most of our congregations do not follow the Apostolic teaching or the recommendations from our LCMS fathers. What happened? In this episode, we discuss why this practice has fallen into disuse, and answer common objections to it. We also discuss the different readings of St. Paul’s teaching.
Host: Fr. Jason Braaten

I have heard the disregard for the authority of the Scriptures started with women’s ordination. It didn’t, it started with the uncovering of our heads. For services and for prayer. What better reason to do it than what Paul says, ”because of the angels”?

Very encouraging. I do wish the practice hadn’t been discontinued. We women just need to start back wearing headcoverings, as well as embracing our roles as women.
